How it works
- Type or paste the names, one per line.
- Choose the number of teams.
- Press “Make teams”. Press it again for a new random split, or copy the result.
The team generator splits a list of people into random groups of equal size. It is perfect for sports, classroom group work, workshops, quizzes and game nights.
The teams are as even as possible: if the names cannot be divided exactly, some teams get one person more. Nothing is uploaded, so you can safely use real names.
Frequently asked questions
How are the teams chosen?
The list is shuffled with a cryptographic random generator and then dealt out to the teams one by one, so the teams are random and even.
How many teams can I make?
From 2 up to 50 teams.
What if the names don't divide evenly?
Some teams get one person more than others. The difference is never larger than one.
Can I copy the teams?
Yes, press Copy to copy all teams as text and paste them into a chat, email or document.
